Cap Liner Materials

Foil Seal - Heat Induction

One piece heat induction foil seals are one of the best ways to keep products safe. They provide a hermetic seal on a closure that helps prevent leaking, spilling, or the introduction of contaminants. A good seal can also preserve product freshness. All heat induction seals need a heat induction machine to seal properly. These materials comply with FDA regulation for food contact.

Pres-On offers several types of heat induction seals depending on the container and product. There are cap liners designed to work with all bottle types; these are labeled for use on universal bottles. Pres-On also offers container seals designed to work with PE bottles, PET bottles, and glass bottles. Cap liners that are designed to work with a specific material will bind more aggressively than a universal liner while still allowing an easy clean peel.

We offer tamper-evident seals that do not peel off cleanly. When compared to clean peel seals, tamper evident seals are often more difficult to remove, or puncture the foil They leave behind evidence that the liner was tampered with.

Additionally, Pres-On offers heat induction foil seals with added barrier layer for sealing aggressive products.  These seals are board or foam backed. Different lid seals are designed to work with PE bottles, PET bottles, or glass bottles. Barrier foil seals are suggested for applications that require added barrier protection for aggressive products (chemicals, oils…etc.).

Pressure Seal

Pressure seal liners have a pressure activated adhesive. By fully twisting the cap, the liner is pressed against the closure activating the adhesive. Some bottle materials work better with pressure seals than others, but generally these seals work with almost all plastic, metal, and glass containers.  A good seal can preserve product freshness. The benefit of a pressure seal is that no heat induction machine or other specializes equipment is required.

Pres-On does not recommend pressure seals for liquids. It is the end user’s responsibility for testing the compatibility of pressure seals with any bottle, cap, and product (solid or liquid). Pressure seal materials complies with FDA regulation.

Foam Liner

Foam Liners, also known as compression seals, are made of polyethylene, or PE, foam. They are made of three layers of extruded PE. The benefit of a foam liner is it’s enhanced reseal performance on a closure. Compression liners do not have any adhesive and helps seal the product inside the closure with compression only.

Most common thickness is .020″. Thicker liners may be required to best fit the compression space between the cap and bottle neck, this may vary based on cap and bottle design. Material complies with FDA regulation.

Two-Piece Heat Induction Seal

Two piece heat induction foil seals are similar to their one piece counterparts. They are one of the best ways to keep products safe. They provide an airtight seal on a closure that helps prevent leaking, spilling, or the introduction of contaminants. A good seal can also preserve product freshness.

The difference between a one piece and a two piece seal is that a two piece seal has a backing that separates during the heat induction process. The backing can be made of pulp board or foam. It then acts as reseal liner that will remain in the cap to help prevent leaks after the foil seal is removed by the consumer.

Pres-On offers several types of heat induction seals depending on the container. There are lid seals designed to work with all bottle types; these are labeled for use on universal bottles. Pres-On also offers container seals designed to work with PE bottles, PET bottles, and glass bottles. Cap liners that are designed to work with a specific material will bind more aggressively than a universal liner while still allowing an easy clean peel.

All heat induction seals need a heat induction machine to seal properly. Two piece heat induction seals are recommended for liquid and dry products. These materials comply with FDA regulation for food contact.

Lift n' Peel™

Lift ‘n’ Peel™ is a one piece, heat induction foil seal with a foam backing and a revolutionary pull tap. They provide an airtight seal on a closure that helps prevent leaking or spilling and the introduction of contaminants. A good seal can also preserve product freshness. Just like all heat induction foil seals, Lift ‘n’ Peel™ need a heat induction machine to seal properly. These materials comply with FDA regulation for food contact.

Pres-On offers several variations of Lift ‘n’ Peel™ cap liners depending on the container and product. There are seals designed to work with all bottle types; these are labeled for use on universal bottles. Pres-On also offers Lift ‘n’ Peel™ container seals designed to work with PE bottles, PET bottles, and glass bottles. Cap liners that are designed to work with a specific material will bind more aggressively than a universal liner while still allowing an easy clean peel.
